Entrepreneur of the Year


Paul Waraich is a chartered accountant by profession, with a keen eye for profitable business ventures. He established his own business, a retail chain of liquor stores, expanding rapidly to 18 outlets before selling at a handsome profit. Continuing to build his business and property empire, Paul established Carlton Club in 2002, a popular banqueting suite in the heart of Ilford, providing excellent facilities and service to the local community. He has recently acquired Hotshots Bowling Alley, to further enhance his business portfolio, all alongside supporting many charitable causes in Redbridge and in India.


Chris has been actively involved with Hainault Business Park (HBP) since October 2002. As co-chairman, he has been involved with setting up the Business Partnership in 2003 and the BID company in April 2006. This hard work and determination has resulted in HBP becoming the first BID of an Industrial Estate in South England. In 2007, HBP were successful in their application to the LDA Opportunities Round Two, bringing in funding over 3 years. Through the Business Park, Chris has had the opportunity to get involved with a very worth while project to benefit the businesses, the employees and the local community.


Stephen Pomerance has run a very successful jewellery business in the Exchange, Ilford for many years, and at present is selling raffle tickets for a £5,000 pair of diamond earring's to raise money for charity. He works every Tuesday at Sinclair House Jewish care centre and has recently taken a MIDAS course, enabling him to drive the care buses. There are many examples to demonstrate Stephen’s initiative to raise money for worthwhile causes through fun and inventive activities, including organising a golf charity day and pioneering the Jewish boys calendar, to name a few.
