CLLR FILLY MARAVALA

Councillor Filly Maravala, Labour Councillor from the Loxford Ward, started life in Redbridge politics in 1994 as a back bencher. He has been a member of the Social Services, Education and Planning committees. In 1999 Cllr Maravala became the very first Asian/Zoroastrian Mayor of Redbridge. Cllr Maravala has been a Cabinet Member for Community Governance and Partnerships and is currently chairing the Area 6 Committee. Cllr Maravala says that his contentment in being a politician lies in the hope that he may have been of some help to someone somewhere and hopes to continue serving the people of Redbridge.

CLLR THOMAS CHAN

Councillor Thomas Chan, elected in 2006 as Conservative Councillor for Wanstead Ward, has been Chairman of Planning and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee and currently holds the Cabinet Portfolio of resources and communications, customer and strategic services and property management. With a background in the NHS, empowerment for all and generating confidence has been the driving force behind his decision to get involved in the public arena. Having lived in Redbridge with his family for over twenty years, Cllr Chan’s aim is to see the Council continues to deliver a high standard of services to its residents.

CLLR ROBIN TURBEFIELD

Robin has a young family, and is a company director of the Lodge Group, providing furnishings for landlords. He was elected as Councillor of the Bridge Ward in the London Borough of Redbridge in 2006. In 2007, he was elected Chairman of the Planning Scrutiny Committee, and in the following year, he was elected as Chairman of the Highways and Environment Scrutiny Committee. He led the ‘Redbridge Conversation’ initiative, aiming to encourage residents to voice their views on priorities in Redbridge. Robin has also been active in raising funds for Richard’s House Children’s Hospice.
